• BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION, IN PARTICULAR DIGITAL MARKETING TRANSFORMATION (W1)The junior professorship advances an understanding of how digital transformation, driven by (generative) artificial intelligence (AI) and associated digital technologies or data analytics approaches, reshapes traditional marketing.
Your research meets the highest standards for empirical studies and contributes to broader discourses in the field of marketing.In particular, we seek candidates who examine phenomena or processes of digital marketing transformation from a strategic, behavioral, or quantitative perspective, ideally with a focus on (generative) AI.
It is expected that your existing or planned research addresses current developments in the areas of (generative) AI as evidenced by your publications, manuscript pipeline, working papers, or conference presentations.
Fields in the area of marketing that the professorship could inform include, but are not limited to, the development and application of AI methods in marketing research, AI-driven marketing, AI-driven decision-making, consumer behavior in the digital age, management of digital marketing transformation, value creation through AI, or ethical challenges associated with AI in marketing.
With these or other themes, you contribute to 'digital transformation' as one of the School of Management and Technology's profile areas and complement existing research with a marketing-inspired view; and give impulses to further developing the areas of 'entrepreneurship' and/or 'responsible and sustainability management'.In teaching, you will offer electives focusing on aspects of digital marketing transformation, preferably related to (generative) AI and its intersections with entrepreneurship and/or responsible and sustainability management.
You might also offer introductory courses on digital marketing transformation that provide a solid basis for subsequent electives, as well as contributions to doctoral training in the research group on Entrepreneurship, Management, and Innovation.
You can document prior teaching experiences in the wider subject area of the junior professorship, ideally your prior teaching or future teaching plans are related to (generative) AI.
Preferably you have supervised theses on B.Sc.
and M.Sc.
levels and ideally you also have some experience in co-supervising Ph.D.
students.Beyond research and teaching, you are willing to inspire and educate students as well as non-academics to make a sustainable impact on people, organizations, and society; respectively, you ideally have your ideas to impact society.
You share the idea of the university as an educational community.
As a scholar, you are willing to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration at the School of Management and Technology and beyond with the aim to support its mission.You strive to establish a vibrant international network and develop an internationally visible research program.
This is demonstrated by a developing track record of highly-ranked papers in marketing journals according to the VHB Publication Media Rating 2024 or the Academic Journal Guide; ideally with one paper at least with a revise and resubmit status in an A-ranked journal.
Initial contributions to leading national and international scientific associations and conferences in the area of marketing (ACR, AMA, AMS, EMAC, SCP, etc.) are expected.
Applicants document initial experience or participation in research (preferably DFG) or industry grant applications, indicating a successful strategy for obtaining external funding during the junior professorship.
Ideally, you have already successfully acquired third-party funding on your own.You have an excellent command of the English language.
Ideally, you have spent some time in your career at a leading international business school and have a track record of teaching classes in English.
If you do not speak German, you are willing to learn it within a reasonable period.For this position, we seek a committed early-stage researcher who shows promise of excellence in teaching and research.
According to § 30 NHG, formal requirements are a university degree and Ph.D.
in a discipline relevant to the open position, your aptitude for teaching, and your ability to engage in independent academic research as demonstrated by the outstanding quality of your dissertation.The junior professorship will be filled in accordance with pay grade W1 and is initially limited to a period of three years.
