The Professional and Corporate Affairs branch is located in the Regulatory and Consumer Services division in the Department of Community Services.
The branch is responsible for administering a variety of legislation in three areas of focus:
health professions, business professions, and corporate and society registers.
There are three units responsible for each area of focus.The Corporate Registries unit manages the registration of businesses, not-for-profit organizations, and cooperatives in the Yukon.
The group ensures that corporate governance standards, policies, and reporting requirements are upheld while facilitating efficient service delivery to the public and private sectors.
The unit is also responsible for maintaining a public personal property security (lien) register.About the job:
The Professional and Corporate Affairs branch (PCA) is looking for a highly motivated and experienced professional to join the team as a Policy Officer.
Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Registries, you will work both independently and collaboratively with stakeholders to provide advice and analysis on numerous pieces of legislation impacting corporation registrations, not-for-profit societies, and other business operations in the Yukon and outside of the territory.
You will be responsible for providing advice on policy and standard development, legislative changes, and regulatory frameworks that impact the governance of business operations.You will be expected to participate in national meetings of regulators by profession, maintain an understanding of trends and practices in regulation, proactively engage in stakeholder communications, identify and draft policy papers for the administration of the legislation, and ensure that public information is kept current.As a Policy Officer, you will be expected to use your exceptional communication skills and ability to speak proficiently on regulatory matters when educating the public and as a Yukon representative at an inter-jurisdictional level.Essential Qualifications:
