The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority is an arm's-length federal agency responsible for the shared stewardship of the lands and waters that make up the Port of Vancouver, Canada's largest port.
Our mandate, as outlined in the Canada Marine Act, is to enable Canada's trade objectives on behalf of all Canadians, ensuring goods are moved safely through the Port of Vancouver, while protecting the environment and considering local communities.

Located on the southwest coast of British Columbia, the port extends from Roberts Bank and the Fraser River up to and including Burrard Inlet.
Geographically, the port is about the same size as the next five largest Canadian ports combined.
Its jurisdiction includes more than 16,000 hectares of water, more than 1,500 hectares of land and hundreds of kilometres of shoreline, bordering 16 municipalities and intersecting the traditional territories and treaty lands of 35 Coast Salish Indigenous groups.

As a key member of the senior leadership team at the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority, the Director, Project Management Office champions the organization's purpose of enabling Canada's trade by being reliable and innovative, while protecting the environment through providing leadership for the effective delivery of the port authority's project portfolio, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and strategy.
The Director, Project Management Office plays a crucial role in the establishment of governance frameworks and oversight mechanisms, including developing and implementing project management standards, methodologies and best practices and building project management capabilities across the organization.

The ideal candidate will be well versed in the leadership of complex, cross-functional projects and portfolio management within a dynamic business environment, with completion of a relevant university degree that reflects advanced strategic leadership capabilities.
Project Management Institute (PMP, PgMP, PfMP), Prince2 and/or Lean Six Sigma certifications are highly desirable.
Management consulting experience and change management certification (e.g.
PROSCI) would be considered assets.
Experience managing teams and developing people, particularly in project management, governance, and strategy execution is key to success in the role.
Excellent communication and public speaking abilities will enable them to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders.
Strong customer service, combined with effective decision-making, strategic planning, and proactive initiative, will contribute to the success of this role.
Additionally, fostering the development of internal emerging leaders will further enhance our team's growth and performance.
