For more information, please visit jamiesonwellness.com.Overall ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Manager, Research and Development the Formulation Specialist will be responsible to develop, update and optimize product formulae to ensure they meet all intended design specification, optimal operational parameters and comply with USP/NF, NHP and HPB regulations or other requirements as assigned.Specific Key Responsibilities & DutiesDesign and build theoretical formulations for estimate cost evaluationPrepare research and development (R&D) prototypes, bench trials, pilot batches and oversee production scale-up operationsDetermine optimal type and fill material characteristicslnitiate stability studies and monitor results for specification compliance and product improvementAssist in product/equipment validation as requiredPhysical testing and evaluation of R&D products as requiredProvide technical and troubleshooting assistance to the operation groupProvide and or review technical information for other departments as requiredMaintain accurate and detailed records of R&D product development projectsOperate, maintain, interpret and summarize data/results from R&D equipment and instruments including but not limited to:
tablet presses, blenders, coaters, viscosity, water activity, hardness, friability, particle size and flow testing equipmentResearch technical information on new and/or existing raw materials and finished productsEvaluate chemical and physical properties of new raw materials and make recommendations for approvalOther duties and projects as deemed necessaryKnowledge, Skills & Abilities RequirementsDegree or diploma in Science or Engineering (preferably in Chemistry, Food Science or Pharmacology) from an accredited College and/or UniversityMinimum three (3) to five (5) years' experience in Research or Product Development, preferably in the Nutraceutical/Pharmaceutical industry or Food industryExperience must include process expertise in gel preparation and oil/wax/PEG formulationsWork experience/expertise in liquid, tablet, softgel/tablet coating, or other supplement delivery technologies would be an assetComputer literate, including effective working skills in Word, Excel, MS Project and MS OutlookKnowledge in Statistics and ERP systems would be an assetEnergetic, self-motivated and the ability to work independently with minimal supervisionAbility to work overtime to complete projects in a timely fashion as requiredEffective project prioritization, multi-tasking and communication skills a mustKnowledge of GMP, GLP and Health & Safety training an assetOur ValuesACCOUNTABILITY:
