Social Content Creator

Do you have a knack for putting together great reels, engaging carousels, and eye-catching images? Are you up-to-date on the latest trends that keep us all scrolling continuously through our feeds? Are you experienced in food and lifestyle photography/videography, with an appreciation for different creative approaches to social aesthetics and brand voice/tone?

King Ursa is seeking a Social Content Creator to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will create reels, carousels, and static images to social-first best practices for King Ursa, an award-winning creative agency, and its diverse roster of clients.

Social Content Creator Responsibilities:

• Create, shoot, edit, and deliver a mix of reels, carousels, and static images for use across brand and agency socials, delivering content that connects with target audiences, drives engagement, and grows brand affinity, community, and trust.
• Work closely with our in-house social team to develop ideas from initial concepts through to storyboards, presentations, and final deliverables.
• Stay up-to-date on social trends, platforms, and technologies, aligning content to best practices with attention and adherence to platform specifications.
• Identify and collaborate on required third-party shoots and content creation, as required.
• Contribute to the agency's success, including ad hoc and campaign requests.

Skills and Expertise:

1. Photography and Videography:

• Proficient in operating DSLR cameras/iPhones for high-quality content capture.
• Skilled in camera pans, angles, and movements to create engaging videos, with a strong understanding of lensing, depth of field, and focus techniques.
• Experience with lighting setups, including natural light and artificial light sources, for optimal food photography.

2. Food Styling and Presentation:

• Knowledge of trends in food content and how to engage audiences effectively.
• Expertise in garnishing and plating food to make it visually appealing, with knowledge of textures, colours, and composition to create appetizing scenes.
• Ability to adjust food presentation for camera versus in-person consumption.

3. Post-Production, Editing, and Technical Expertise:

• Experience with creating content specifically optimized for platforms like Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and Pinterest.
• Advanced proficiency in Premiere Pro for video editing, as well as strong knowledge of apps and software that allow for editing on-the-go, such as CapCut and/or other social video editing tools.
• Moderate skills in After Effects for creating simple animations or enhancing visuals.
• Familiarity with additional editing software like Lightroom or Photoshop.
• Comfort using gimbals or tripods for smooth video capture.
• Basic sound editing knowledge to ensure clean audio in videos.
• Ability to apply tasteful colour treatments and grading for polished final outputs.
• Understanding of file management and delivering assets in different formats.

4. Production and Presentation:

• Ability to brainstorm, document, and pitch creative ideas for videos or photo shoots.
• Comfortable both in front of and behind the camera.
• Skilled in planning and executing shoots, both independently and collaboratively.

You have:

• A strong creative portfolio showcasing your capacity to create, shoot, edit, and deliver a mix of reels, carousels, and static images for use across brand and agency socials.
• 2+ years of experience working across social media content creation for brands and businesses, with proven success in the field.
• A track record of growing ideas from initial concepts through to storyboards, presentations, and final deliverables, with experience delivering high-quality creative projects on time and within budget.
• Appreciation for brand voice, tone, and aesthetic, and an understanding of brand safety guidelines and how to apply them to the online environment.
• Deep understanding of how social-first content connects with target audiences, drives engagement, and grows brand affinity, community, and trust.
• Familiarity and knowledge across a wide range of social media platforms - especially Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and Pinterest - and their algorithms.
• Experience incorporating and working through feedback across the creative process to push out strong, visually appealing creative concepts that appeal to wide audiences.
• A great eye for creative assets, as well as to the details that most people miss.
• An understanding that food is critical - but you are also confident in capturing lifestyle cues/moments.

You are also:

• Stylistically flexible and can create/execute distinctive content for different brands - ie. you have an understanding of brand voice, but you are able to deliver content against multiple brands simultaneously, with integrated production shoots, etc.
• A collaborative self-starter, with enthusiasm to work as both a creator and producer.
• Knowledgeable around how to identify and lead required third-party shoots and content creation, as required.
• Aware of the difference between organic and paid social - and an appreciation of the nuances and tactics of both of these avenues.
• Knowledgeable about the advertising/marketing creative lifecycle.
• Great at storytelling, copywriting, and communication.
• Able to prioritize effectively and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Comfortable with Google Workspace.
• Organized, communicative, and a collaborator.
