We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our Infrastructure team as a Database Engineer. The successful candidate will be required to collaborate with peers, support teams and partners to develop solutions, provide advanced technical support, work in a creative, fast-paced agile environment, and show a keen interest in solving highly complex technical problems.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

1. Provide day-to-day operational and emergency support of core Database DB infrastructure systems including SAN, OS and associated platforms and hosting solutions (On-Prem, Cloud and Hybrid).
2. Design and Implement hybrid DB infrastructure systems that are scalable, stable and efficient.
3. Migrate and Transform data from Sybase Database to PostgreSQL or MySQL using AWS DMS and SCT.
4. Write CloudFormation and Terraform code to build RDS instances on AWS cloud.
5. Develop and maintain ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data from various sources.
6. Design, create, manage, and troubleshoot AWS Cloud databases used by applications to store and retrieve data.
7. Optimize and monitor data pipelines and systems for performance and efficiency.
8. Develop a migration path to upgrade PostgreSQL to the latest version.
9. Administer other aspects of the DB infrastructure (security, scaling, etc.).
10. Monitor DB systems and identify patterns that affect the performance, reliability, or availability of a system or service and drive them out of the system through automation or other technical innovations.
11. Implement automation of recurrent tasks through scripting where possible.
12. Maintain documentation regarding configurations, operations and troubleshooting procedures for both internal and customer-facing systems.
13. Participate in post-mortem and root cause analysis.
14. Participate in evaluating new requirements for DB's; technical designs, the definition of standards, guidelines, best practices and metrics as directed.
15. Responsible for DB incident, problem, change and configuration management processes for the infrastructure platforms, including license management.
16. Ensure operational stability of DB's by maintaining security patching and vulnerability remediation on a regularly scheduled basis.
17. Manage and maintain all DB inventory and standards.
18. Provide solution and system architecture support for new DB products and services.
19. Participate in on-call rotation and off-hours support activities.
20. Research industry trends, best practices and new technologies that will provide operational insights to Infrastructure teams.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING:

1. Experience: 8-10 years of expertise in technical areas such as DB environments (MS SQL, Oracle, DB2, Sybase, MySQL, PostgreSQL), Operating Systems (AIX, Windows, Red Hat), Storage / Backup and Recovery / DR Solutions.
2. Experience working in a complex environment, writing scripts for monitoring, creating high and low level design documents.
3. Experience with full stack monitoring tools.
4. Proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language such as Python, Java, etc.
5. Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and architectures such as star schema, snowflake schema, etc.
6. Good understanding of CI/CD pipeline.

Education/Training:

1. University Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
2. Relevant Technical Certifications.

8. Strong strategic planning and transformation discipline, with experience building and communicating business cases for technology change.
9. Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with both business and IT stakeholders and leaders, as well as related IT project and operations teams.
10. Ability to assess necessary activities and prioritize for completion of assignments using excellent time management, prioritization skills and work ethic.
11. Strong analytical problem-solving ability.
12. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
13. Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
14. Ability to strive under pressure.
15. High level of creativity and ability to think outside-the-box.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

During peak periods, an irregular work schedule may be expected. On-call Required.
