What would you be doing?

As a Senior Tax Accountant, you will be part of a diverse team of professionals that deliver customized tax strategies within a complex and dynamic regulatory framework.
You will act as a trusted advisor to help design solutions for clients that meet compliance and reporting requirements, minimize risk, drive efficiencies and maximize returns.
You will play a supporting role in managing tax engagements, ensuring compliance with Canadian tax laws, and providing strategic tax planning and advisory services to our clients.

Assisting with the preparation of various Canadian income tax returns (T1, T2, T3) and tax election forms
Work with Tax Managers and Partners to develop and implement tax planning projects including research of tax issues and preparation of memoranda
Identify issues and errors with respect to Canadian income tax filings, investigate discrepancies and discuss with managers or engagement partners to develop resolutions
Correspond with clients and various government agencies to address and resolve client tax compliance issues
Prepare correspondence, technical reports, client summaries and presentations
Collaborate with client engagement team prior to commencement of client work to discuss roles and responsibilities, risk areas, materiality and deadlines
Be a mentor to junior team members
Maintain accurate and organized documentation of all client tax files and correspondence
Preparation and presentation of technical sessions to firm staff
Provide personal, attentive service to clients to encourage productive working relationships and identify client service opportunities

Who is our ideal candidate?

Completion of Bachelor's Degree in either Business or Law
Intention to enroll or have enrolled in the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Course and/or Master of Taxation Course
3 - 5 years of accounting experience, tax experience considered an asset
High proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams), Caseware/Caseview, TaxPrep, and tax research software
Excellent attention to detail, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication, project management and organizational skills
Strong analytical and research skills, and the creativity to identify problems and potential solutions
Professional manner, strong work ethic and ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Ability to provide value-added service to clients and strong understanding of a client-focused fast paced work environment including related deadlines
Ability to effectively pivot between tasks, prioritize and manage deliverables to meet conflicting deadlines
