The Role

Versaterm Public Safety is seeking a highly skilled Cloud Networking Specialist to join our innovative and fast-paced team. This role's primary responsibility demands deep technical expertise in the design, implementation, testing, and ongoing support of both AWS and on-prem networking services. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with AWS Networking, including VPCs, VPN connections, Transit Gateway, and BGP routing. As a secondary focus, the role may entail deployment and automation tasks using tools such as shell scripting, Packer, Terraform, Terragrunt, and Ansible.

What you'll do:

AWS Networking & Design
1. Lead the design, implementation, and management of network engineering solutions within AWS cloud environments.
2. Administer and optimize AWS VPCs, Transit Gateways, VPNs, Firewalls, and related circuits and services.
3. Integrate on-premises networks with AWS using VPNs, AWS Direct Connect, and other hybrid connectivity solutions.
4. Implement and manage AWS network security measures, including Security Groups, Network ACLs, AWS WAF, and AWS Shield.
5. Work with customers, helping them design, implement, and set up highly available VPN connections.
Network Support & Monitoring
1. Monitor network availability and capacity utilization to ensure high availability and meet quality of service objectives.
2. Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues across development, testing, and production cloud environments.
3. Provide input into enterprise capacity planning and support proof-of-concept design and testing activities.
4. Provide ongoing support to customers as needed.
Documentation & Collaboration
1. Develop and maintain detailed network diagrams, support procedures, and operational documentation.
2. Collaborate with Infrastructure Engineers, Architects, and other IT teams to address cloud infrastructure design and architectural issues.
3. Contribute to the development of change requests, white papers, proposals, and other technical documentation.

What you'll bring:

Education and Experience
1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
2. 5+ years of experience in AWS networking and cloud infrastructure.
3. Proven experience with AWS VPCs, VPNs, Transit Gateway, BGP routing, and network security.
4. Experience in maintaining complex local area networks (LANs) & Wide Area Networks (WANs).
Technical Skills
1. Expertise in AWS networking services, including VPC, Transit Gateway, and VPN.
2. Strong knowledge of BGP routing protocols and network security best practices.
3. Experience with network diagnostic, monitoring and analysis tools.
4. Proficiency in infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and Terragrunt.
5. Experience with cloud automation tools like Packer, Ansible, and shell scripting.
6. Familiarity with AWS hybrid connectivity solutions such as AWS Direct Connect.
Soft Skills
1. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
2. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
3. Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
4. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Assets

AWS Certified Advanced Networking
Experience with hybrid cloud environments and on-premises to AWS migrations.
Familiarity with other cloud providers such as Azure.
