Job Title: Apptad - Technology Architect - Senior
Job Location: Toronto (Hybrid)
Job Duration: Long-Term Contract

Responsibilities
Develops, recommends, implements and manages the technical architecture (hardware, software, database and communications) which will be used for all or specific applications in a large, distributed cross-platform environment. Responsibilities also include the identification of relevant information and the determination of the environment, which will be used for development.

General Skills

Leadership experience in the development and implementation of technical architectures at the specified experience level
Extensive experience with at least three different platforms, operating systems, environments, database technologies, and communications protocols
Experience with middleware and gateways
Knowledge of performance considerations in different environments
Experience in structured methodologies for the design, development and implementation of applications
Extensive experience in systems analysis and design in large systems environments
Knowledge and experience designing processes around ITIL and is able to guide others using this methodology
Experience translating business requirements into reporting needs
Experience preparing conceptual, logical and/or physical processes and data models
Experience developing, recommending, implementing and managing technical architecture
Experience in the use of Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools and other software tools such as project management tools
Aware of emerging technologies, trends and directions
Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills; verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal and negotiation skills
A team player with a track record for meeting deadlines
Experience in developing enterprise architecture deliverables (e.g. models)

Must Haves:

Experience with OPS Architecture review process
Experience with Service Ontario Driver services
Solid Experience with cloud platforms
Oracle database experience

Nice to Have:

Previous Public Sector experience is an asset.

Experience and Skill Set Requirements

At least 7+ years of data engineering experience of which 4+ years of Azure Data Factory / Azure Databricks experience

Good understanding of modern data platforms including data lakes and data warehouse, with good knowledge of the underlying architecture, preferably in Azure

Proven experience in assembling large, complex sets of data that meets non-functional and functional business requirements.

Advanced skills in Python and SQL for data manipulation, analysis, and automation.

Working experience of performance tuning and optimization, bottleneck problems, analysis and troubleshooting skills.

Understanding of data governance principles, data quality management, and regulatory compliance.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and translate them into technical specifications.

Requirements/Hands on experience

Advanced skills in Python and SQL for data manipulation, analysis, and automation.

Working experience of scripting, data science and analytics (SQL, Python with library, e.g., Panda, PowerShell)

Expertise in designing data table structures, reports, and queries.

Working knowledge data pipeline and CI/CD

Working experience of designing and implementing robust data pipelines to ingest, process, and store large volumes of data from various sources.

Preferred Tools: Microsoft Azure Data Factory, Databrick, Fabric, Business Intelligence, ETL, Power BI, SSIS, Oracle Data Integrator

Selection Criteria

Cloud Knowledge and Experience - 50%
Demonstrated experience enabling and designing the Government of Ontario's clouds Azure, AWS, IBM, Oracle and Google clouds. This experience would need to be with Cloud environments that are of the same scale as the Government of Ontario Cloud or BPS environments.

Communications and Customer Service - 20%
Demonstrated experience of working with customers/key stakeholders and using communication skills to resolve operational issues, negotiate or document process-related intelligence.

Analysis and Problem-Solving - 30%
Demonstrated experience with troubleshooting and resolving Azure/AWS/IBM/GCP/Oracle Cloud environments incidents and working with vendor partners.
