About Us

MEOPAR is a not-for-profit network funded by the Strategic Science Fund (SSF) that is focused on supporting leading-edge research and connecting top researchers across Canada with highly qualified personnel, partners, and communities. Together, our mission is to address the problems and opportunities of the changing marine environment. MEOPAR funds leading-edge research, overcomes barriers to collaborative research, and helps to train the next generation of marine professionals.

Overview of the Role

The Executive Assistant/Corporate Secretary serves as a strategic advisor and trusted partner to the Executive Director, ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day operations in the Executive Office by providing executive-level administrative guidance and support to the Executive Director, and facilitating effective decision-making, board management, and cross-functional collaboration. Acting as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, this role helps to drive organizational priorities, manage board relations, and supports the Executive Director in executing strategic initiatives. It's a dynamic position that requires a strong blend of strategic thinking, organizational skills, and exceptional communication abilities.

What You'll Do

Act as the strategic advisor to the Executive Director
Provide executive-level administration management and support
Provide Board and Governance management
Project management and execution
Internal and external stakeholder management
Provide operational efficiency and workflow optimization
Communication support

What You'll Bring

Bachelor's degree in business, public administration, or a related field or equivalent work experience in relevant areas.
A Master's or Ph.D., or other experience as a researcher or working with academic researchers would be considered an asset.
5+ years of experience in a senior management role, ideally supporting or working closely with Executive leadership.
Demonstrated experience in providing complex administrative support.
Proven independence in decision making within established guidelines.
Exceptional communication, analytical, and project management skills.
High level of discretion and professionalism.
Experience in board management and governance processes considered an asset.
