JOB DESCRIPTION

We are always looking for the right misfits for our island. If you are hungry to grow, dedicated, hardworking, fun-loving, and idea-generating blazer of trails, please fill out the form below to be considered for our Quality Assurance/Quality Control Technician position.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct daily cellar checks including gravity, pH, fermentation and condition temperature, tank pressure, vincinal diketones (VDK), and turbidity
• Laboratory record keeping
• Host Sensory Panels, receive and review participants' sensory notes
• Perform Force Ferment Checks
• Maintain yeast health and viability, including cell counting
• Daily ferment management and tank temperature/pressure adjustments
• Laboratory equipment calibration and cleaning
• Laboratory inventory supply counts
• Prepare agar and microbiology plates
• Complete daily packaging quality checks
• Participate in department and facility meetings
• Accurately conduct and document daily, weekly & monthly check-lists concerning GMPs and HACCP plans
• Maintain and organize facility quality records
• Revise and update SOPs, as necessary
• Assist to create other new QA/QC processes and standard operating procedures as the need arises
• Collect, organize, verify, and compare data to ensure that products meet specifications
• Communicate effectively and consistently with the various teams responsible for quality at Good Robot
• Conduct other activities as necessary for the overall continuation of operations at the facility

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain the lab and associated equipment in a neat and orderly condition
• Observe and practice all brewery safety procedures including wearing the proper PPE at all times on the production floor, as well as following Food Safety Standards
• Assist in the brewing and/or packaging departments, if required

REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to reliably commute to Elmsdale, Nova Scotia
• Experience in a lab setting, Microbiology experience is a strong asset
• Math and computer skills with working knowledge of Google Workspace
• A positive work attitude, with the ability to multi-task; reliable
• Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner
• You have exceptional communication skills and attention to detail
• You have extremely high expectations for QA/QC
• You are adaptable and can quickly respond to the demands of an ever-changing environment
• You are a critical thinker and work well independently
• In this role, you will frequently be required to ascend/descend stairs to access the lab and production floor
• In this role, you will frequently be required to move a weight of up to 35lbs

ASSETS

• Background in a food-based packaging manufacturing setting
• Education in a field related to Biology, Chemistry, or fermentation sciences
• Knowledge of the brewery's CIP and cleaning chemicals, and WHMIS
• Experience with production ERP systems, specifically EKOS
