Position Overview

We are seeking a committed and experienced Quality Lead to join the team for the third phase of the construction project in Marystown, NL. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the quality assurance and control processes, ensuring that all construction activities adhere to the highest standards of quality and comply with all relevant codes and regulations. Initial primary focus will be on the concrete and rebar aspects of the project, where your deep expertise will be essential in overseeing the preparation, installation, and finishing work to ensure structural integrity and durability.

Additionally, your knowledge of mechanical and electrical scopes will be invaluable in coordinating and inspecting these systems, ensuring they integrate seamlessly with the structural elements of the project. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to identify potential quality issues, implement corrective actions, and maintain detailed documentation of all quality-related activities. Your role will be pivotal in delivering a safe, compliant, and high-quality industrial facility that meets the client's expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Quality Assurance and Control:
  
  • Implement current quality control plans for concrete and rebar works, ensuring adherence to project specifications, industry standards, and best practices.
  • Develop and implement quality control plans to address any current design gaps, ensuring strict adherence to project specifications, industry standards, and best practices.
  • Conduct daily inspections of construction activities related to concrete, rebar, and other structural elements.
  • Review and approve material submittals, ensuring compliance with project requirements.
  • Monitor the quality of mechanical and electrical installations as the project transitions into M&E phases.
• Documentation and Reporting:
  
  • Maintain thorough and organized records of all quality-related activities, including inspections, tests, and audits. This involves documenting findings from non-conformance reports (NCRs) and tracking corrective actions to ensure timely resolution of any issues.
  • Ensure that all documentation is up-to-date, accurate, and easily accessible for review and compliance purposes.
  • Prepare and deliver detailed quality reports for project management, including a summary of key quality metrics, identified issues, and their impact on the project. These reports should include actionable recommendations for resolving problems and improving processes.
  • Provide regular updates on quality performance, including trends and potential risks, to keep stakeholders informed and facilitate proactive decision-making.
  • Collaborate with project teams to address any quality concerns highlighted in reports, ensuring that corrective actions are effectively implemented and monitored.
• Collaboration and Communication:
  
  • Work closely with the project management team, subcontractors, and engineers to resolve quality issues promptly.
  • Provide guidance and training to site personnel on quality standards and procedures.
  • Liaise with third-party inspectors and regulatory bodies as required.
• Safety and Compliance:
  
  • Ensure that all quality control activities are conducted in accordance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Stay updated on relevant codes, standards, and industry developments.

Qualifications:

• Education:
  
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications in quality management, such as Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), are preferred.
• Experience:
  
  • Minimum of 6-8 years of experience in quality control/assurance within the construction industry, with a strong focus on concrete and rebar.
  • Experience in industrial building projects is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems within construction is an asset.
• Skills:
  
  • Strong understanding of construction materials, methods, and processes, particularly related to concrete and rebar.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in quality management software and tools.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Working Conditions:

• On-site role with some office work required.
• May require extended hours and weekend work depending on project deadlines.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions and challenging environments.
