Orion M.C. Inc. is a Saint John, New Brunswick based Retail, Commercial, and ResidentialReal Estate Developer. As a self-sufficient operation, Orion M.C. Inc. is comprised of five divisions:
Property Management Services, Property Development Services, Construction Services, Maintenance Services, and Landscape Services.

We are currently seeking an experienced individual to fill the position of Financial Controller within our Management Services division.

The ideal candidate for this role is a Senior Level Accountant with a CPA designation, team-oriented, results driven, with a passion for growth and motivating a team. As the successful candidate you will work closely with the Director of Finance and other members of the Senior Management Staff relating to the internal financial record-keeping and execution of the operational strategy of the finance department. This position will, under the direction of the Director of Finance, play a key role in the oversight, training, and mentoring of departmental staff to meet the organization's financial goals and objectives.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to the following:

Preparation of monthly financial statements;
Management of the balance sheets, expenses, and income statement reporting;
Preparation of working papers for the year end files for audit;
Reconciling accounting inaccuracies or imbalances;
Ensures compliance with and prepares reports according to applicable government regulations;
Coordinates with and prepares reports for management;
Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed;
Works with division management to analyze performance;
General ledger analysis;
Regular Management Reporting;
Assists and supports special projects and miscellaneous requests as required;
Use accounting software to maintain records and prepare reports.

Qualifications and requirements

Candidates must have an Accredited Canadian Accounting Designation or near completion with combined 5+ years of Senior Accounting and Management experience;
Demonstrates strong leadership and employee management experience;
The ability to work independently and under deadlines with a meticulous focus on details and results;
Ability to adapt and respond to variable workloads;
Strong analytical skills require firm grasp of accounting and business concepts;
Previous experience in the Construction, Property Management, and Real Estate industries considered an asset but not required;
Superior written and verbal communication skills;
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite;
Candidates will be required to present a Criminal Record Check throughout the interview process.
