we're looking for an innovative and strategic Showcase Event Director who shares our passion for making a difference. You'll play a pivotal role in driving our organizational efforts, enhancing our brand visibility, and engaging our communities across Canada. Reporting to the National Executive Director, you'll lead the planning and coordination of events, manage volunteers, and handle attendee and sponsor relations.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage all event logistics and relationships.
• Communicate with various event sponsors leading up to events and serve as onsite contact.
• Respond to enquiries from the public about events, including assisting with media requests.
• Co-facilitate volunteer team as required.
• Assist in identifying and managing vendors, including negotiating and managing contracts.
• Assist in designing, coordinating, and executing all events. This includes developing timelines and budgets, coordinating across departments to ensure deadlines are met, tracking performers, securing event sponsorships, developing print materials and collateral, as well as all event logistics.
• Assist in developing new opportunities, and maintains, organizes and manages existing events from concept to completion, ensuring they operate smoothly and efficiently.
• Assist with building community awareness.
• Assist with sponsor acknowledgement.
• Assist in recruiting, scheduling and managing volunteers for general event duties and specialized teams.
• Work closely with the National Executive Director and National Marketing Director to promote, advertise and market events.
• Other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Solid understanding of event planning, management and execution
• Ability to lead and work in a team environment
• Excellent communication, organization and creative thinking skills
• Must be detail oriented
• Highly customer service oriented
• Strong and fluent computer skills
• Ability to adapt and respond quickly
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends, specifically around the clock scheduling for the duration of events
• Degree or diploma in a related field preferred
• Highly well organized, self-motivated, independent and autonomous
• Respectful of deadlines
• Possesses a good sense of humor

Join a vibrant youth outreach dance organization where you'll build leadership, event, and volunteer management skills while gaining valuable experience in the nonprofit sector. Work closely with supportive regional and national directors to grow in your areas of interest.

TIMELINE AND COMMITMENT:

• Part time, 2 year commitment including a 3 month provisional period
• 3 to 6 hours per week time commitment depending on workload

The Culture Shock Canada Showcase truly exemplifies the community enrichment and professional entertainment portions of Culture Shock Canada's mission by bringing the power and beauty of urban dance to diverse audiences, as well as helping communities connect and grow. This entertaining dance spectacle showcases over 25 dance teams from cities such as Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal and Washington DC among others. The events include a 1 on 1 dance competition, a youth showcase and a professional showcase as well as a day of workshops, which all help increase awareness of positive values through the urban arts, and also recognizes youth by showcasing their talent and rewarding some with Leadership and Achievement Awards.
