Renewable Energy Manager

Our client, one of the world's largest natural resource companies, is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Renewable Energy Manager to join their team.
This role is critical in managing the development of renewable energy projects, particularly wind energy, through close collaboration with partners and consultants.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in advancing renewable energy project development and ensuring alignment with the company's strategic energy needs, load growth projections and decarbonization goals in Canada.
Reports to the Director of Energy Development - CanadaKey Responsibilities include:
Wind Project Development:
Lead the development of utility-scale wind energy projects, managing renewable energy partners through all phases, including siting, permitting, interconnection, and stakeholder engagement.
Ensure project alignment with corporate energy strategy, including regional energy load requirements and decarbonization goals.
Facilitate collaboration among internal and external stakeholders, providing technical oversight and decision-making to maintain project progress and mitigate risks.
Act as the primary liaison between the company and renewable energy partners, ensuring timely delivery of milestones and adherence to contractual obligations.Hydroelectric and Renewable Energy Development:
Oversee hydroelectric project development in collaboration with Indigenous partners, coordinating external consultants and ensuring mutual alignment of project objectives.Participate in feasibility studies, partnership structure planning, and financial modeling for renewable energy projects.
Collaboration:
Support strategic planning and investment approval processes with internal committees and senior leadership teams.
Collaborate with internal departments to ensure alignment with best practices and standards.Partner with internal operations teams for technical planning, system interconnection, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder management to ensure cohesive project execution.
Strategic Planning and Oversight:
Provide technical input and strategic guidance for project feasibility studies, partnership structures, and financial modeling.Regulatory Compliance and Stakeholder Engagement:
Ensure compliance with regional regulations, permitting requirements, and industry standards.Innovation and Best Practices:
Promote the use of innovative technologies and solutions to enhance project outcomes.Ensure alignment with the company's best practices and operational standards.Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.Proven experience in renewable energy project development, with a focus on wind and hydroelectric energy.Strong leadership and project management skills, capable of managing multiple priorities and stakeholders effectively.Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills in both English and French.Experience in partnerships, contracts, and strategic planning within the Canadian regulatory and business environment.Familiarity with energy systems, electrical systems, and mining operations (preferred).Strong negotiation and influencing skills, with strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities.Experience with energy systems and electrical systems (asset).
