Position Overview
The McGill University Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences invites applications for a full-time position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor as Director of the Rosalind and Morris Goodman Cancer Institute. A tenure stream position may be available for the selected candidate.
McGill University's Rosalind and Morris Goodman Cancer Institute, a key unit within the new School of Biomedical Sciences (SBMS), brings together world-leading scientists and clinicians in a vibrant and collaborative academic environment. Our mandate is to serve as a centre for revolutionary cancer research, fostering a dynamic and interdisciplinary research environment. Supported by top-notch research facilities, technological platforms and dedicated faculty members, research staff, and administrative professionals, and attracting outstanding students, our teams are tackling the most important problems in cancer research through innovative thinking and a multidisciplinary approach.
As Director, the successful candidate will oversee faculty recruitment, mentorship, and career development while directing scientific and operational activities of the Institute. The Director will work closely with the leadership of the other units that make up the School of Biomedical Sciences, advise the SBMS Director and the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, and represent the Institute externally, in Quebec, nationally, and internationally.
Qualifications and Education Requirements

Hold a PhD, MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent degree;
Have strong leadership qualities, a proven track-record in research and teaching, and the skills and experience needed to lead diverse teams and training programs;
Experience in fundraising and service in an advocacy role are considered assets;
In-depth knowledge of the government, research funding, and health care systems of Quebec is considered an asset;
The ability to communicate in both English and French, or the willingness to achieve such proficiency, is expected.

Other Responsibilities

Serve on the Executive of the School of Biomedical Sciences;
Pursue new revenue sources to support the activities of the Institute, including through fundraising, large grants, and industry partnerships;
Foster relationships with alumni and external stakeholders;
Foster relationships with student representatives/associations;
Ensure that the Institute engages with and reflects the communities it serves;
As an Associate or Full Professor, the incumbent will be expected to participate in teaching, maintain a research program, supervise graduate students, and maintain a successful scholarly career as evidenced by publications, presentations, and student training.

Term
The Director has a 5-year term and is renewable.
