As a manager of the Guidewire Development team, you will be working with globally distributed teams, including business representatives, business analysts, architects, and engineers to plan, design, develop, test, and implement solutions. You will also assess Technical Debts and Priorities with the leads to ensure the solutions that are built are sustainable and production ready. We embrace a culture of challenging the status quo and constantly look to simplify processes, technology, and workflow.

This position reports to the AVP - Software Engineering.

What you'll do:

Requirements Analysis:
- Collaborate with business analysts and product owners to review the software requirements, challenge them on the business value, validate the assumptions made, and influence the stakeholders on the prioritization of the work.
Solution Design & Estimation:
- Create architectural diagrams, high level, and detailed design documents & estimates.
- Design screens, business rules, and workflow changes.
- Work with project managers and product owners on alternate solutions and adjust the solution to fit the given timeline or budget.
Coding and Peer Reviews:
- Write programs, configure/package/deploy software.
- Establish and follow coding standards.
- Debug and unit test the code.
- Perform peer code reviews.
- Work with DevOps and Testers on improving automation.
Coaching and Mentoring:
- Mentor team members on best practices.
- Coach senior resources to become future leaders.
People Management:
- Set clear goals for team members.
- Meet with the team 1-on-1 on a regular basis.
- Collect feedback from stakeholders and provide feedback to the team regularly.
- Coach and deal with underperformers.
- Hire talent by conducting technical and behavioral interviews.

What you'll bring:

Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or equivalent.
Strong communication skills required.
Guidewire Cloud Certification required; ACE is preferred.
2 years of recent Guidewire Claims domain and technical hands-on experience.
Understanding of Cloud Technologies and experience in leading Cloud programs.
Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience in GW Integration Development (Expertise in GOSU, Rules Engine, Data Model, API development).
Minimum 8 years of experience in GW integration development using GOSU with PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, ContactManager, and ClaimCenter.
Minimum 8 years in architecting integration of GW PC/BC/CM/CC/Digital product with internal and external systems/applications.
Minimum 5+ years of experience building Micro-services architecture, Event-driven architecture, and patterns.
Minimum 2 years of experience with GW Edge API and its customization.
Agile software development, including the use of Git, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Jira, and Confluence.
Domain knowledge in Property & Casualty Insurance.

Other assets and nice to have:

Core Java and Spring Boot.
REST APIs, web services, and messaging.
Database systems such as Oracle and Mongo.

What you'll get:

The salary band for this position ranges from $92,100 to $171,000. Please note that individual salary is determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, as well as internal equity.
