Board members help ensure governance of Spectrum so the organization can provide services and programs for the benefit of 2SLGBTQIA+ communities in Waterloo Region.The Treasurer is responsible for presenting financial reports to the board of directors and other stakeholders including the organization's income and expenses, assets and liabilities, and other financial performance indicators.
They establish proper internal controls to safeguard the organization's assets and prevent fraud or misuse of funds.
They ensure that the nonprofit is compliant with all relevant financial and accounting regulations, as well as legal requirements or reporting obligations specific to charitable organizations.
They are involved in decision-making related to investments, and the management of grants and donations.The Treasurer collaborates with other board members to develop long-term financial strategies that align with the organization's mission and goals and is involved in annual audits or financial reviews to ensure the accuracy and transparency of the organization's financial statements.Working Conditions:
Board members must be contributing members of the organization through a contribution of any amount or volunteering at least 30 hours each fiscal year (August-July).
Board terms are two years long, and no member may serve more than six terms.
Spectrum's Board can have up to 15 members at a time.The successful candidate will be asked to make a minimum commitment of two years with approximately four to six hours of work monthly.
