Organizational Information

Purpose of your Position - Non Union

Classification Summary - Union

A Planner I reviews and processes development plans and applications, writes and presents reports to Council and Committees, provides service to the public and supports senior management and staff.

Duties - Union

• Reviews, assesses and co-ordinates assigned rezoning, development permit, subdivision, strata title and Land Commission Act appeal applications.
• Reviews and interprets development plans, maintains development statistics and conducts site visits and evaluations.
• Responds to counter enquiries and provides information regarding various departmental policies and procedures.
• Identifies compliance and non-compliance aspects of an application compared to regulations, policies, bylaws and legislation.
• Co-ordinate information on development proposals from other City Departments, Utility Companies, Provincial Ministries, neighbourhood representatives and members of the public.
• Prepares reports to advisory committees and City Council with respect to development applications, procedural amendments and policy review.
• Presents reports to advisory committees and, on occasion, City Council.
• Staff liaison for planning-related Council Committees.
• Prepares and administers bonding agreements.
