Full-Time Continuing (35 hours per week) OOS Pay Band 6:
$90,208 to $121,950 per annum.

MacEwan University has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and skilled Strategic Initiatives Coordinator with MacEwan's Office of the President.
In this full-time continuing position reporting to the Chief of Staff, you will lead, coordinate, implement, track, and complete projects and events that are in support of the strategic vision and priorities of the institution.
Your work may be confidential and will require tact, nuance, and balancing multiple priorities.

You will support the Chief of Staff in providing strategic advice and project management, and as a member of the President's Office team, help provide operational support to the President.
This will entail responding to various current and emerging issues as well as seizing opportunities to advance the university's strategic vision or improve operations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating with the Chief of Staff to identify, develop, and refine projects and initiatives that support and advance MacEwan's strategic direction.
  • Maintaining full life cycle ownership for projects and initiatives as assigned, including project planning, execution, monitoring, reporting, and debriefing.
  • Leading or supporting institutional events (e.g.
    State of the University Address, Chancellor Speaker Series).
  • Preparing and contributing to university-wide strategic documents and institutional reporting (e.g.
    Annual Report).
  • Managing issues and organizational change as required, including developing change management and communication plans.
  • Developing briefings, presentations, speaking notes, and other documents to support the President and advance the strategic priorities of the University.
  • Building effective working relationships across the university to identify opportunities for collaboration.
  • Raising urgent and/or sensitive issues while assessing options, implications, and risks, and providing recommendations to the Chief of Staff.

Skills

You will have:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of strategic planning, project management, communications, and institutional effectiveness; experience in higher education/public sector preferred.
  • Results-oriented quality with the ability to multitask, take initiative, and meet critical deadlines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated political and business acumen, diplomacy, and tact.
  • Thorough understanding of project management principles and experience leading complex projects.
  • Ability to gather data, analyze, and synthesize information to make recommendations.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions on sensitive projects.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Ability to act as a positive role model and develop trust through honesty and integrity.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in public policy, business, communications, marketing, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years progressively responsible professional experience in strategic planning, project management, or a related role.
  • Training or certification in project management is an asset.
  • Experience in a post-secondary or related public sector environment is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other common office programs.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
