Senior Program Manager, New Initiatives (12 Month Term)

Full-Time Non Recurring Term (35 hours per week) MSA Band G (Steps 1-8):
$38.137 - $55.475 per hour. $69,410 - $100,964 per annum (Based on 35 hours per week). A review of applications will begin December 19, 2024, and continue until a suitable candidate is found.

MacEwan University is seeking a Senior Program Manager, New Initiatives for a 12 month full-time non-recurring term opportunity in the School of Continuing Education.

Reporting to the Program Director, the Senior Program Manager, New Initiatives is responsible for leading the planning, development, implementation, and ongoing management and refinement of new and existing continuing education programs within an assigned portfolio. You will oversee the day-to-day operations of a program team responsible for executing the development and management of continuing professional education programs. Your focus will be on launching new programs and initiatives to ensure the sustainability of continuing education programs that are current, relevant, and responsive to the needs of the student body and broader MacEwan community.

Key responsibilities include:

  • In collaboration with the Program Director, participating in the development of short-term and longer-term plans and budgets for the program area, including establishing attainable program growth, revenue, expense, profitability, and engagement targets.
  • Analyzing programming gaps and market availability for training in demand areas, and making recommendations on solutions.
  • Supervising, mentoring, and supporting a program team, including assignment, prioritization, and monitoring of workload and performance.
  • Serving as a point of contact for the team and providing solutions to work-related problems.
  • Providing leadership in the adoption of innovative practices, including the integration of technology and online learning.
  • Ensuring effective management of programs and compliance with regulations and policies.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Developing and maintaining effective processes and workflows to ensure a positive user experience.

Skills

You will have:

  • A thorough understanding of project and program management principles.
  • The ability to lead a team and foster a positive environment.
  • Strong planning and project management skills.
  • A strong understanding of trends in adult learning principles and continuing education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, budgeting, and program planning.
  • Experience using project management tools and software.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in business administration, education, project management or related field.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation or in progress.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in program development and management, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience managing high-stakes projects and program budgets.
