Opportunity

MacEwan University is seeking a Project Coordinator for a full-time, 12-month opportunity with our Office of Human Rights department. MacEwan's Teaching Greatness Strategic Vision 2030 Dashboard identifies targets including establishing a baseline data for faculty who report belonging to an equity-deserving group. In addition, MacEwan received a Canada Research Council grant to support the renewed collection of student and staff self-identification data, which will support meeting the EDI requirements of the Canada Research Chairs Program (CRCP).

In this role, you will coordinate with other University departments to identify a data collection strategy, support the updated collection of self-identification data from students, staff and faculty and leverage insights from previous campaigns to enhance reporting efforts in 2025 and increase self-reporting rates. You will contribute to infrastructure to support regular and ongoing reporting, tracking and communicating results.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Promoting awareness and informing on MacEwan's EDI data program, as it relates to the Canada Research Chair Program (CRCP) and MacEwan's Strategic Vision of Teaching Greatness;
  • Analyzing, translating and summarizing collected data to identify trends, patterns, and areas warranting improvement in EDI efforts;
  • Coordinating and liaising with the (to be established) EDI Data committee to support the development and implementation of EDI data awareness strategies, with the goal of encouraging participation in EDI data collection programs;
  • Supporting data integrity for our program's systems/tools and the creation of EDI data dashboards to help track programs' effectiveness using various metrics;
  • Implementing recommendations from the 2023 "What We Heard Report" on self-identification and data collection, including potential changes to student onboarding, creation of marketing assets and assuring relevant terminology is used;
  • Developing and leading outreach activities and campaigns to encourage self-reporting of diversity data, with creative and multiple connection points to students, staff and faculty;
  • Cultivating meaningful relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders and facilitate meetings, workshops, focus groups and events centered on collection of EDI data;
  • Actively responding to inquiries and requests for guidance on data collection;
  • Researching relevant policies and procedures that support systems in collecting, organizing, storing, and accessing EDI data, as well as other data governance considerations, as it applies to the CRCP program and broader data collection strategies;
  • Conducting comprehensive research and benchmarking exercises to uncover innovative approaches and avenues for improvement within MacEwan's EDI efforts;
  • Remaining current on emerging trends, research findings, and best practices within the domain of diversity, equity, inclusion, relevant literature, reports, and studies; and
  • Working closely with the Office of Research Services.

SKILLS

You will have:

  • Evidence of previous projects of similar scope such as EDI initiatives;
  • Familiarity with EDI related demographic data management and collection, including challenges and strategies for promoting collection;
  • Awareness and general understanding of engagement best practices/stakeholder engagement plans and tools with EDI initiatives;
  • The ability to work independently, organize duties, establish and adjust priorities to complete tasks, and meet deadlines;
  • Strong interpersonal, and communication skills, and the capacity to listen effectively and sensitively to a broad range of diverse stakeholders and partners;
  • The ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Well-developed writing skills to document pertinent information and request information specific to the situation; and
  • Tact and sensitivity in dealing with matters subject to confidentiality and privacy considerations.
