The Department of International Business, Marketing, Strategy, and Law in the School of Business invites applications for a full-time tenure-track appointment in Legal Studies in Business at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing July 1, 2025, subject to final budgetary approval.

Responsibilities

You will play a vital role in enhancing the department's focus on helping students develop the practical skills needed to start their career or continue their studies in international business, marketing, strategy, and law.
You will help students build a strong foundation of critical, analytical, and strategic business skills through work-integrated learning, undergraduate research projects, and assignments that encourage creative and strategic thinking and strong communication.

You will teach undergraduate courses in the Legal Studies in Business major and minor in the Bachelor of Commerce degree and in the Paralegal diploma program, and conduct and disseminate research in a relevant field, while providing service within the University.

Qualifications

You will hold a LL.B.
or JD and an advanced degree (e.g., LL.M.
or Ph.D.) in a relevant area of expertise and will demonstrate a primary commitment to undergraduate teaching and an ongoing research program.
You will have expertise in the law of Canada and of Alberta and have experience in the practice of law in Canada.
Expertise in Indigenous law, corporate law and procedures, securities law, privacy law, or environmental law is preferred.

You will submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, teaching dossier (including your teaching philosophy, and recent teaching evaluations if applicable), statement of research interests, and a sample of your research work.

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted by the Department Chair to provide three (3) letters of reference sent directly from referees.
Only selected candidates will be required to submit official transcripts sent directly from the institutions where you completed your degrees.
