Job Title: SRE Project Manager III.

Location: 100% Remote (New York, NY).

Role Overview

The SRE Project Manager III (SPM) is a critical leadership role responsible for managing the delivery of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) initiatives. This role focuses on program and project management, ensuring efficient execution, alignment with organizational goals, and collaboration across technical teams. While not a hands-on technical role, the SPM is expected to have a strong understanding of SRE practices and cloud engineering concepts to effectively bridge the gap between business objectives and technical execution.

Key Responsibilities

Program & Project Management:

Develop and manage detailed project plans for SRE initiatives, including migrations, cost optimizations, tool implementations, and compliance efforts.
Ensure adherence to delivery timelines, prioritization of high-impact work, and alignment with business objectives.

Collaboration & Facilitation:

Work closely with engineering leads to drive prioritization discussions and resolve conflicts.
Act as the point of contact for cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment between SRE work and feature delivery.

Technical Communication:

Use a working knowledge of SRE practices, cloud-native architectures, incident management, and observability tools (e.g., New Relic, Datadog) to facilitate discussions and remove blockers.
Identify gaps in processes or tooling and work with teams to implement solutions.

Compliance Tracking & Reporting:

Monitor compliance with defined standards such as SOC2 and NIST.
Report progress to leadership and ensure engineering teams adhere to policies.

Performance Monitoring & Improvement:

Track and report on key KPIs, including Time In Progress, Time to Deploy, Latency, Error Rate, and Uptime.
Ensure that SRE efforts support system reliability without hindering feature delivery.

Qualifications

Required:

Proven experience in project/program management, preferably in an SRE, DevOps, or cloud engineering environment.
Familiarity with SRE principles, cloud-native architectures, observability tools, incident management, and service level objectives (SLOs).
Strong understanding of compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC2, NIST) and experience facilitating compliance initiatives.
Excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and report to stakeholders effectively.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to drive alignment across diverse teams.

Preferred:

Experience working with tools like New Relic, Datadog, or similar observability platforms.
Certification in Agile, Scrum, or other project management methodologies.
Background in cloud engineering or DevOps practices.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Delivery Metrics: Meeting project milestones, ensuring timely execution of SRE initiatives.
Reliability Metrics: Responsiveness to compliance spikes on service-level objectives, including uptime, latency, and error rates.
Alignment Metrics: Balancing feature delivery and system reliability.
