About the Role: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Data Platform architect with expertise in Power BI, Data Warehousing, and SQL Server engines. Ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing effective Power BI solutions, with a focus on Power BI Embedded, development, data warehouse integration, analytics, and DAX expertise. For SQL Server, there should be a strong focus on Performance, High Availability, and Failover Clustering.

Ideal candidate will play a key role in design, development and optimization of Power BI and SQL Server implementations along with assisting in migration and modernization of solutions to Azure.

Job Title: Customer Engineer/Cloud Solution Architect for SQL Server, Power BI

Recent Updates-

• The PBI resource will be mostly working with French-speaking customers, we do need a fully bilingual resource who is comfortable delivering in either French or English)
• The skill is primarily PowerBI, secondary is SQL Server
• PBI Embedded
• Key themes/types of engagements this person will see in this role:
• PBI optimization & troubleshooting - it's critical that this person be able to TROUBLESHOOT issues with existing reporting, such as 'why are reports running slowly'. They will need a data modeling background/skillset to help with this.
• PBI Governance, how containment works, controls around deploying PBI
• Resource needs to be an SME, be proactive & consultative truly - they will be driving a lot of these conversations.

Responsibilities

• Enterprise-level support and administration focused specifically on:
• Power BI, Power BI Embedded, SQL performance and tuning optimization, Clustering, Always On Availability groups, High Availability.
• Extensive experience with Power BI development including Power BI embedded skills.
• Power BI solution design, PBI embedded development skills and Performance optimization skills are required.
• Proficiency in DAX for developing complex calculations and measures.
• Strong understanding of data warehouse concepts and experience with data warehouse integration.
• Solving performance problems, query tuning, and optimization
• SQL Server on IaaS experience on Azure/ Other public cloud required.
• All versions of SQL Server (2012 and onwards)
• Architectural experience in Data Platform
• Architecting for High Availability and Disaster recovery solutions using FCI, Always on Availability groups
• Delivering and/or authoring technical training
• Advanced Microsoft certifications are preferred.
• Previous Consulting and/or customer-facing role.
• Azure data factory, Azure SQLDB, Azure SQLDB Managed Instance, and Azure Synapse knowledge is a plus.

• Storage management techniques.
• Data Engine Capacity Planning.
• General database management, Policy-based management.
• Extended events and Traces
• Basic Licensing and support scenarios
• Windows Failover Clustering
• SQL Server Reporting service

Location: 100% Remote in the US or Canada

Salary Range: The salary for this position is between $100K/year- $120K/Year. Factors that may affect pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
