Role ResponsibilitiesPower Plant - Oversee operations of this unit including:
Supervise team of Unionized Power Plant Operators (Class 2 and 3)Manage equipment operation with compliance of all internal/external regulatory rules and guidelinesMaintain availability of steam, water, air to plant operating areasIdentify process/maintenance problems and solve with assistance of other ADL resourcesOversee outside contracting activitiesPrepare/review/maintain operational budgets and expendituresReview S.

's and keep up-to-dateInitiate incident reports with corrective actions for events occurring within the DepartmentProvide information for process improvements and capital projectsParticipate in ADL Safety Metrics programSupervise utility supplies and usage:
Advise on contracts for gas/electricityMonitor daily, monthly and annual usage of utilities (natural gas, water, electricity, effluent)and establish appropriate systems to measureReport deviations, assist in determination of cause and correct or assist in rectifying problemRecommend opportunities to reduce utility consumption and/or reduce costsContinuous improvement initiativesPromote and drive a strong safety and 5S culture in the departmentSupport TRACC initiativesMaintain inventory/ordering of chemicals and consumables for Steam PlantRoutine analysis of Steam Plant performanceIdentify and create requests for repairs (strong ability to troubleshoot, both electrical and mechanical).
Assist in maintenance planning for shutdown periods and provide operation support during shutdown.
Manage SAP work orders and purchase orders related to Steam PlantBe available on rotating, on-call basisUse appropriate root cause problem solving (RCPS) techniques to help with operational improvements.
Providing permits for contractor workOther projects/duties as may be assigned from time to timeFacilities MaintenanceSchedule and coordinate any services required by external vendors including landscaping, snow removal, fire suppression, roofing, HVAC and other servicesDevelop work standards and assignments for work activities, based on work priority, quantity of equipment and skill of personnelConduct regular site inspections ensuring building and equipment meets scheduled and periodic maintenance requirementsRespond to emergency conditions and building emergency callsQualificationsActive member of ABSA, 3rd Class Operating Engineers License for Alberta5 to 8 years of Supervisory experience in production process, preferably in food/beverage or chemical industryUnion exposure, preferably in a supervisory roleIntermediate to advance knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and SAPDemonstrated ability to use problem solving/root cause analysis toolsGood communication and interpersonal skillsHighly motivated, requiring minimal supervisionCompliance with standard operating procedures, legal and other requirements including health and safety, fire protection, environmental, quality, security and continuous improvement programs is a requirement of the role.
