MEMBER OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS - DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENTRestoration and Empowerment for Social Transition or (REST) Centres is a black led, BIPOC serving registered charitable organization under CRA regulations.
REST Centres is on a mission to end youth homelessness in Peel Region.
One of our goals at REST Centres is to make sure each youth graduates to live proudly and independently in society with the support group developed during each youth's stay in the program.DescriptionREST Centres' Board of Directors contributes their wealth of knowledge in their area of specialization to advance the organization's mission and goals.
The unique aspect of the Board is that it is also a working board in addition to a governance Board.
We are not just advising but are also on the ground working to execute tasks.We are currently looking for a new member to join the team with a specialty in Fund Development.
The Director of Development is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all REST's fundraising initiatives.
This includes the major gifts program, annual fund, planned giving, special events and capital campaigns.
The Director works closely with the Dagma and the Board of Directors in all development and fundraising endeavours.
Other tasks include but are not limited to the following:
Meet prospective donors and supporters on a continual basis to develop and foster a positive relationship with them.Grow the major gifts program, including identification, cultivation, and solicitation of major donors.Oversee grant seeking, including research, proposal writing, and reporting requirements.Build the planned giving program with a focus on deferred gifts such as bequest expectancies.Direct the annual fund program, including mailings and annual fundraising drives.Direct capital campaigns and other major fundraising drives.Coordinate fundraising special events.Oversee prospect research and qualification.Oversee fundraising database and tracking systems.Supervise and collaborate with other fundraising staff.Oversee creation of publications to support fundraising activities.Develop and maintain gift recognition programs.Ad hoc tasks may include but are not limited to the following:
Assisting in identifying potential new board members as needed.Writing blog posts on specialty topics.Raising awareness for the organization.Expectations2-year board membership commitment to REST Centres.Attend all bi-monthly board meetings and applicable committee meetings, plus annually at a combined AGM and strategic planning session.Attendance at conferences and seminars as required for board members.Support of and participation in the organization's events.QualificationsBusiness leadership experience.Experience with fundraising and/or development.Collaborative, servant leadership work style.Passionate and knowledgeable about homelessness and youth.Not-for-profit Board experience is an asset.A deep network of senior business and/or funding decision-makers and influencers is an asset.Interested candidates can apply by sending their resume along with a cover letter to
