The Position

The Director, Communications & Content is a strategic leadership role reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). This position is pivotal in shaping and executing BCCF's communications strategy, elevating brand trust, and leading a high-performing team. The Director oversees the creation of audience-focused content for owned and earned channels and engages stakeholders to drive action and accelerate change.

The role also ensures alignment with organizational priorities and advances BCCF's mission through compelling storytelling, thought leadership, and collaborative partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Communications Leadership

• Develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy aligned with organizational priorities and objectives.
• Position communications as a strategic driver using data-driven, donor-centric approaches.
• Elevate BCCF's brand and deepen connections with key audiences.
• Lead thought leadership initiatives, including blogs, Op-Eds, events, and social media, to expand national exposure.
• Proactively engage stakeholders to align opportunities with strategy and manage reputational risks.
• Collaborate across teams to ensure seamless campaign alignment and audience insights.

Team Leadership and Development

• Lead and inspire a high-performing, creative, and collaborative team.
• Mentor team members, supporting their growth and professional development.
• Provide clear direction and tools for campaign development and execution.
• Ensure efficient systems and processes for capacity planning and alignment.
• Foster a positive culture of shared accountability and excellence.

Execution

• Advance BCCF's storytelling capabilities with audience-driven insights and modern tools.
• Oversee content creation, ensuring high-quality and on-brief outputs across channels.
• Monitor and analyze key performance indicators to inform improvements.
• Represent BCCF as a spokesperson at events and media engagements.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Build and maintain strong relationships with BC Cancer staff, donors, sector leaders, and government contacts.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership, providing actionable, data-driven insights.
• Guide leadership on organizational and CEO profiling strategies.

Innovation and Best Practices

• Drive digital transformation through new tools and processes.
• Stay abreast of industry trends to enhance content development and efficiency.
• Create an innovation pipeline to test new ideas and improve performance.

Compensation and Benefits

The typical compensation range for this position is $110,000 - $140,000 annually, with potential for additional benefits and rewards. This range is based on market benchmarks and may vary depending on the candidate's relevant knowledge, skills, and experience. Benefits include, five weeks of vacation, additional Christmas closure, and early closures before long weekends, a comprehensive municipal pension plan, a competitive incentive plan, hybrid work, and additional benefits.
