We push boundaries of what is possible through product innovation, and we take responsibility for our operation, economically, socially, and environmentally.Position OverviewWe are seeking an Assistant Plant Manager to support in overseeing the daily operations of our manufacturing facilities in Ajax, ON.
This position involves supervisory, operational, and strategic responsibilities aimed at optimizing production processes, maintaining high safety and quality standards, and fostering a productive work environment.
This role reports to the Plant and Operations Manager and is considered to be 100% onsite.Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Oversight:
Assist the Plant Manager in planning, directing, and coordinating all plant operations.Implement Lean manufacturing techniques to optimize processes and reduce waste.Develop and execute process improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.Safety and Compliance:
Implement and enforce health and safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.Conduct regular safety audits and ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards.Address and resolve any safety concerns promptly.Quality Assurance:
Oversee quality control processes to ensure products meet established standards.Collaborate with the quality assurance team to identify and address quality issues.Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality.Staff Supervision:
Supervise and support plant personnel, including production workers and supervisors.Provide training and development opportunities to enhance staff skills and performance.Lead, mentor, and develop plant staff to foster a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork.Assist to manage employee relations.Maintenance and Equipment Management:
Ensure that all machinery and equipment are properly maintained and operational.Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules and address equipment failures.Work with the maintenance team to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability.Inventory and Supply Chain Management:
Monitor inventory levels of raw materials and finished products.Coordinate with materials staff to ensure timely delivery of materials.Work with the procurement lead to optimize inventory management and reduce waste.Budgeting and Cost Control:
Assist in the development and management of the plant's budget.Monitor operating costs and identify opportunities for cost savings.Ensure that financial targets are met without compromising quality or safety.Skills and Qualifications:
Strong leadership and supervisory skills.Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.Effective communication and interpersonal skills.Knowledge of manufacturing processes and quality control standards.Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance requirements.Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.Education and ExperienceA Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Industrial Management, Engineering, or a related field.8 - 10 years of experience in operations management.Experience within the automotive industry is preferred.Proven experience in a supervisory or managerial role within a manufacturing environment.Professional certifications related to operational management or production are advantageousStrong knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and practices.Demonstrated ability in process improvement methodologies, with a focus on continuous improvement strategies.Mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues effectively.Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams towards achieving operational goals.Strong analytical skills with experience in using data-driven decision-making processes.Able to lift items and containers up to 50lbs.Experience working in ISO certified environments.Working ConditionsWarehouse work environmentWorking in a loud environmentWorking indoors in a potentially warm or cold climateTravelling to various parts of the warehouseStanding for extended periods of time
