Employee Wellness Manager - 19070

We're looking for a hybrid Employee Wellness Manager for our client, The Good Samaritan Society.

Reporting to the Vice President & Chief People Officer, the Employee Wellness Manager leads and evaluates the organization's Ability Management program, health and safety initiatives, wellness efforts and employee benefits programs.

This role includes evaluating industry best practices, standardizing processes, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policies across the organization.
The Employee Wellness Manager will guide Good Samaritan and its leaders in understanding employee wellness, emphasizing the importance of employer due diligence.
They will also work continuously to build and maintain collaborative relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

Employee Wellness Manager responsibilities:

• Oversee a team of direct and indirect reports, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and fostering a high-performance culture.
• Collaborate with leadership to develop and implement strategic plans aligned with organizational objectives, benchmarking with industry standards.
• Recommend strategies to align employee wellness programs with the Mission, Vision, and Values of Good Samaritan.
• Monitor legislative and case law changes (e.g., Human Rights, Workers' Compensation, Privacy laws) to ensure program compliance.
• Develop, manage, and report on the annual budget, including variance tracking.
• Collect, analyze, and report data to monitor employee wellness programs and site performance indicators.
• Prepare and present reports, policies, and program updates to internal and external stakeholders.
• Build and maintain relationships with unions, WCB, safety associations, and other business partners in Alberta and BC.
• Lead the development and revision of policies, focusing on wellness and legal compliance.
• Participate in union contract negotiations as needed.
• Support leadership development by promoting awareness of legislative compliance and employer due diligence.
• Ensure ongoing Certificate of Recognition (COR) status through partnerships with provincial OHS, WCB, and CCSA.
• Oversee WCB program management, including cost relief reviews to optimize premium reductions.
• Promote Good Samaritan's presence in the healthcare community through participation in committees, events, and conferences.
• Manage employee benefits programs, including plan selection, renewal, contract negotiation, and benchmarking.
• Provide management with insights and recommendations on benefits based on trends, employee needs, and cost analysis.
• Collaborate with HR on benefit updates, implementations, and system testing for consistency with plan documents.
• Work with provincial authorities, safety associations, and health authorities to promote safe and healthy initiatives for employees and stakeholders.
• Establish strategic relationships with external partners for emergency preparedness.
• Assess organizational needs to develop, coordinate, and manage effective wellness programs and services.
• Monitor and report on wellness program utilization, statistics, and satisfaction.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

The successful candidate has:

• 3+ years of experience in employee disability management wellness, health and safety, and benefits in a multi-union and multi-disciplinary team environment.
  
• A Bachelor's degree in a related field is a must.
  Disability Management Specialist (CDMP), Certified Return to Work Coordinator (CRTWC) is an asset
• Eligibility to obtain the Certified Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) preferred
• Certified Health Executive (CHE) preferred
• Experience in health care or continuing care is an asset
• Strong knowledge of current disability management best practices
• Strong knowledge of Human Rights Legislation and the duty to accommodate, as well as Privacy Legislation and Workers' Compensation Legislation
• Ability to identify wellness, employee health and safety, benefits and abilities management best practices and stay abreast of legislation and case law changes for continuous improvement of the employee wellness program
• Strong knowledge of HR procedures and processes
• Strong leadership, analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills
• Demonstrates strong teamwork, collaboration, and an open-minded approach to ideas and solutions.
• Excellent written, communication and presentation skills
• A current and clear Criminal Records Check Form as well as a Vulnerable Sector Check
• A tuberculosis screening that has been completed no more than 12 months prior to the hire date is also required
