What We are Looking for

We are currently looking for a motivated, reliable, and professional Structural Engineer-in-Training for our Calgary office. This is a entry-level development and growth role for a recent graduate and is an opportunity to gain exposure to many facets of Structural engineering. This role is key in ensuring the delivery of our projects as well as supporting our clients and the Senaltek Team in the growth of our Calgary office.

This role will offer you the opportunity to work with an engineering and drafting team and learn across a variety of projects including commercial, industrial, residential, and structural remediation projects. You will work alongside engineers of various experience with the opportunity to learn and develop key engineering and project management skills.

Duties and Key Responsibilities

• Assist intermediate and senior engineers in analysis design.

• Prepare detailed calculations.

• Write technical reports.

• Develop structural designs in collaboration with designers.

• Preparing structural and technical assessments and reports.

• Reviewing and collaborating on reports and designs completed by other engineers and designers.

• Problem solving and collaborating on client problems.

• Document Control responsibilities including preparing transmittals and filing.

• Participate in field investigations and reviews.

Education Required

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural courses from an accredited Post-Secondary Institution.

Should be currently pursuing their P.Eng in Alberta and registered as an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) .

Qualifications & Experience:

• Degree in civil Engineering with a focus on structural courses from an accredited Post-Secondary Institution.

• Must be legally able to work in Canada independently.

• Must be located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

• Must have excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

• Must have strong computer skills and be proficient in Microsoft Office.

• Experience with Structural analysis software (e.g. Risa, SAP2000, Sframe and Staad Pro).

• Should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with short and long cycle projects.

• Strong time management, self management, and organizational skills required.

• Must be a team player and able to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines.

• Must have a can-do attitude and be a true self starter, willing to dig deep to find solutions.

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

• Must have the ability to climb ladders, and walk across uneven terrain for site inspections.

Above and Beyond:

We would get excited about a candidate with any of the following in addition:

• Exposure to or experience in FEA (Finite Element Analysis)

• AutoCAD proficiency.

• Experience in the design and analysis of structural steel, reinforced concrete, and timber construction, as well as structural supports and foundations.

• Experience with Structural analysis using software. (e.g. Risa, SAP2000)

• Experience conducting structural inspections and assessments.

• Hands-on construction site experience.

• Submission of University transcript.

Additional Details:

(40 hours per week)

• Work to be conducted out of the Downtown Calgary office.
