What We Are Looking For

Northern Hawk has an opportunity for a full time SAGD Production Engineer based in the Calgary, Alberta office. Reporting to the Vice President Engineering and Development, the SAGD Production Engineer will take on a lead role in the operations and optimization of SAGD production of the Kerrobert asset through well surveillance and completions optimization.

Primary Responsibilities:

Engage in daily surveillance and troubleshooting of SAGD wells to optimize production, ensure safety, reliability, and cost efficiency
Act as the primary contact between field and Calgary staff to provide engineering and technical support to field operations
Evaluate, justify, recommend, plan and manage well workovers to enhance well performance
Optimize the design of artificial lift systems
Develop, maintain, and monitor downhole integrity programs
Provide input to development activities as part of the planning, design and execution phases
Take a lead role working with operations to confirm the accuracy of operating data
Generate periodic oil and steam forecasts
Manage and track optimization capital and provide capital accruals

Who We Are Looking For

This individual will be expected to play a key role in the continuing operations of the company's assets, it is expected that the successful candidate will bring the following experience, education and expertise:

Bachelor's degree in engineering
5- 10 years of hands-on experience in thermal production operations, with a solid understanding of the SAGD process
A history of strong technical analysis combined with solid business acumen
Experience with artificial lift analysis and optimization
Knowledge of downhole failure mechanisms and methods of mitigating failures.
Solid knowledge of completions, workovers and abandonments
Experience working closely with service contractors to design and execute effective programs
Work well independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
Commitment to injury-free operations and regulatory compliance
APEGA or APEGS, member in good standing
Exposure to oil treating, water softening and steam generation would be beneficial
Exposure to Drilling, Operations, or Development would be an asset
