Position Summary:

Miskanawah (meaning "many little paths" in Cree) is an Indigenous-led organization offering supportive services grounded in cultural traditions and teachings. We believe that children, youth, and families thrive in culturally responsive communities.

The Indigenous Home Visitation Lead is a key leadership role, responsible for overseeing and mentoring the Home Visitation team while ensuring the delivery of culturally grounded, family-centered services. This role emphasizes the importance of relationship-building, community connections, and a holistic approach to supporting families.

Grounded in the teachings of Wahkotiwin, the Indigenous Home Visitation Lead ensures families feel valued, respected, and supported as they work toward building safe, healthy, and nurturing environments for their children. Through strong leadership, program coordination, and a focus on cultural teachings, this role plays a vital part in enhancing family wellness and community resilience.

This position is ideal for a strong leader who is committed to honoring Indigenous knowledge, supporting families, and fostering community resilience. The successful candidate will combine cultural teachings with innovative leadership to enhance the impact of the Indigenous Home Visitation program.

Responsibilities:

  1. Supervise, mentor, and support the Home Visitation team to ensure high-quality, culturally sensitive service delivery.
  2. Develop and implement work plans that align with program goals and cultural values, focusing on supporting families through individualized home visitation services.
  3. Integrate the teachings of Wahkotiwin and Indigenous ways of knowing into all aspects of program delivery and team leadership.
  4. Build trusting relationships with families, staff, and community partners, fostering a culturally safe and welcoming environment.
  5. Lead the development and monitoring of program outcomes, ensuring continuous improvement and alignment with family and community needs.
  6. Facilitate team meetings, training, and professional development opportunities that enhance the team's cultural competency and service delivery skills.
  7. Work collaboratively with families to identify strengths, set goals, and connect them to culturally relevant community resources.
  8. Coordinate outreach initiatives to increase awareness of the Home Visitation program and strengthen relationships with community stakeholders.
  9. Prepare detailed reports, track program metrics, and provide insights to stakeholders to ensure accountability and transparency.

  4. Family-Centered Practice:
    Commitment to delivering services that prioritize family strengths, respect individual needs, and promote long-term wellness.
  5. Program Evaluation:
    Skilled in tracking program outcomes, analyzing data, and using insights to drive program improvements.
  6. Communication:
    Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports and deliver presentations effectively.
  7. Problem-Solving:
    Ability to navigate complex family dynamics and provide thoughtful, culturally informed solutions.

Requirements:

  1. A minimum of 3 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role, preferably in family services or community-based programs.
  2. Demonstrated experience working with Indigenous families and communities, incorporating cultural teachings into programming.
  3. Experience in program evaluation and using data to inform decision-making and program development.
  4. Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check.
  5. Child Intervention Check.
  6. Use of a reliable vehicle with $2,000,000 liability.
  7. Valid driver's license and a driver's abstract with minimal demerits.
