Working as part of a team, the Estimator/Project Manager will provide overall support for construction projects within the City of Calgary and surrounding area.
The primary responsibility of this position will be accurate and timely preparation of cost estimates.
Extended responsibilities will include project management establishing preliminary construction schedules, procurement of materials, coordinating subcontractors, reconciling quantities, preparing progress billings, and contract review.

• Collaborate with divisional and operational teams to ensure successful completion and delivery of finished projects to clients.
• Communicate effectively with internal teams, supervisors, field crews, and clients throughout all phases of project construction.
• Oversee construction projects to ensure adherence to design, budget, and schedule requirements.
• Conduct onsite inspections during project execution to monitor progress and quality.
• Maintain accurate project records to ensure efficient delivery, reconciled billings, and final invoicing.
• Participate in securing new work by contributing to estimates and proposals as part of the core team.
• Prepare estimating takeoffs, bid estimates, and attend pre-tender meetings to review specifications and drawings.
• Measure and confirm field measurements for final billing reconciliation.
• Partner with supervisors to align skill development with position requirements and future opportunities.
• Proactively develop personal skills to enhance accurate and timely project estimating and execution.
• Build strong relationships with the civil construction community, including consultants, associations, and clients.
• Provide exceptional customer service by addressing client inquiries with a constructive, problem-solving approach.
• Supervise construction projects to meet high service standards, ensuring timely delivery and necessary adjustments.
• Support and guide field teams to ensure safe operations, steady project progression, and optimized service delivery.
• Actively demonstrate a commitment to safety by participating in safety training, weekly safety meetings, site inspections, and addressing safety and environmental concerns.

What You Bring

• 4-6 years of estimating experience, or a combination of field and estimating experience.
• CET, BScPM, P.
  Eng.
  preferred; a combination of relevant education and heavy civil construction experience will be considered.
• Experience working with construction crews using collaborative and results-oriented approach.
• Experience with construction software such as Microsoft Dynamics 365, Viewpoint, and InEight.
• Strong skills in reading and interpreting plans and specifications, and highly analytical with mathematical aptitude.
• Initiative to learn and develop new skills to enhance your personal growth and the delivery of accurate and timely project estimates.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Proven ability to build and maintain trusting, credible relationships, handling interactions constructively, addressing challenges proactively, and ensuring service and delivery standards are optimized.
• Flexibility to work extended hours, including overtime, and travel throughout the Calgary area as required.
