The Opportunity

Reporting to the Associate Dean - Operational Excellence, the Business Operations Coordinator plays a dual role, coordinating School of Business (SBus) operations including planning, forecasting, and scheduling programs, and contributing to strategic initiatives aimed at optimizing processes and identifying best practices.
This role proactively supports the SBus Leadership team with reporting on and analyzing applicable metrics for evidence-based planning and decision making.

This position requires a balance of operational support and forward-thinking analysis to enhance the efficiency, effectiveness, and alignment of business practices within the School of Business.
The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical, facilitation, and communication skills, with experience in process improvement and data analysis.

• Planning, Scheduling, Data Analysis, and Reporting
• Compile and track key school metrics, including scheduling and loading information.
• Conduct research, analyze, and synthesize information relevant to forecasting and optimizing scheduling and loading.
• Support budget planning and forecast cycles with respect to program hours, full-load equivalents, and service requests.
• Organize data, analyses, and recommendations into summary reports to support evidence-based decision-making by SBus Leadership Team.
• In collaboration with SBus Leadership Team, engage in multi-year planning in alignment with provided targets, retention rates, and other relevant inputs.
• Liaise with other departments at SAIT to support planning and scheduling initiatives.
• Coordinate inbound and outbound service delivery requests with other Schools in Academic Portfolio.

• Process Optimization and Business Analysis
• Act as a liaison between the operations team and other institutional departments, ensuring alignment with broader academic and administrative processes.
• Co-conduct process mapping exercises to document current workflows within the School of Business and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Lead and facilitate workshops with stakeholders to gather insights, understand pain points, and co-develop optimized processes.
• Provide insights and recommendations to address operational challenges and enhance development and implementation.
• Develop clear documentation to support process optimization initiatives, including process maps, workflows, and standard operating procedures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to operationalize (pilot, implement, and evaluate) new processes and practices.
• Prepare and deliver reports and presentations to stakeholders on project progress, findings, and outcomes.

• Minimum
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant area; a combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Minimum three years of related experience in coordination, data analytics, and/or project management.
• Strong analytical skills and advanced MS office and database management experience is required.
• Creativity and problem-solving skills are needed and a willingness to challenge assumptions and put forward ideas.

• Preferred
• Experience working in a post-secondary environment is an asset.
• Experience with process mapping and/or automation is an asset.
• Experience with Banner, Argos, Infosilem, and/or Tableau is an asset.

• Ability to collaborate effectively across different teams and levels of the organization.
• Financial acumen, knowledge of accounting principles, and knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and planning.
• Ability to coordinate high-priority tasks with diverse team members.
• Ability to negotiate and influence with colleagues to ensure high-quality project outcomes.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize well.
• Critical thinking skills.
• Technical knowledge of planning and reporting software (Tableau, others) and Advanced MS Office skills.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
