About the Role

The Department of Mathematics and Computing, Faculty of Science and Technology at Mount Royal University invites applications for a tenure track position which will commence July 1, 2025, subject to final budgetary approval, at the Rank of Assistant Professor.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a primary commitment to undergraduate teaching and the ability to develop/maintain an active research program.
The primary focus will be on teaching courses in the Computer Science Major.
In particular, the successful candidate will teach courses related to assembly language, hardware/software interface, operating systems, etc.
(for example, COMP 2655, COMP 2659, COMP 3659).
There may also be the opportunity to teach other existing COMP courses, or to develop new courses in the candidate's area of expertise.

The successful candidate will develop/maintain an active program of research/scholarship in accordance with Mount Royal University's (and the Faculty of Science and Technology's) expectations regarding Research and Scholarship.
The ability to involve undergraduate students in research and the ability to attract external funding are assets.

Preferred candidates will hold a PhD in a computing-related discipline.
Candidates with a PhD in another discipline with experience deemed to be relevant, or those with the combination of a Master's degree (normally in a computing-related discipline) and significant work experience may also be considered, provided they can demonstrate the potential for a suitable research program.

New faculty are hired into one of two work patterns.
The teaching/scholarship/service pattern (TSS) has a focus on teaching with the requirement that the faculty member be involved in a research program as well as service to the Mount Royal community.
The teaching/service pattern (TS) has a focus on teaching and service only.
The successful candidate will be hired into the teaching/scholarship/service pattern (TSS).
There is an option to change work patterns after tenure.
