Analyst or Senior Analyst, Connection Process

The Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) is responsible for the safe, reliable, and economic planning and operation of the Alberta Interconnected Electric System.
We provide open and non-discriminatory access to Alberta's interconnected power grid and also facilitate Alberta's competitive wholesale electricity market.

We are seeking a qualified Connection Process Analyst to support and enhance the Regulatory and Transmission Services Team.
This team is responsible for overseeing the AESO connection and system processes, including developing and maintaining process documentation, tools, and managing changes.
The Regulatory and Transmission Services Team is also involved in implementing the ISO Tariff, as well as new or modified rules and regulations within relevant AESO processes, and providing regulatory, mapping, and cost support to connection and system projects.

The Connection Process Analyst has accountability in service areas such as process development & process mapping, implementing tools & templates, reporting, change management and training.
The role is essential in driving the continuous improvement of the AESO Connection Process and will involve working closely with various teams, including project management, engineering, tariff, regulatory, and external stakeholders such as TFOs, DFOs, and market participants.

Your main accountabilities:

• Facilitate the definition, design, and development of Connection Process documentation, tools, reports, and templates, including by:
  
• Gathering business requirements
• Developing process maps, manuals, and guidelines
• Applying industry best practices, methods, and tools
• Developing and executing implementation plans
• Proactively identifying improvements and enhancements
• Providing front line support for user questions and issues
• Providing training
• Writing communications for internal and external stakeholders
• Leading change management with internal and external stakeholders
• Provide routine (daily, monthly, quarterly, annual) and ad-hoc reports and analysis relative to project status, performance, trends, and risks.
• Assist in the development of any necessary business cases for new or updated tools.
• Collaborate with business users and IT to resolve issues.
• Develop and maintain a clear understanding of the AESO connection and system project processes.
• Maintain productive and positive working relationships with AESO staff and external parties.

You have:

• 5+ years of relevant working experience.
• Demonstrated business analytic skills.
  Ability to learn a new process and suggest process improvements based on Lean or Six Sigma principles.
• Demonstrated project management skills.
  Ability to prioritize and manage multiple priorities concurrently, meet defined time lines, with conscientious attention to detail.
• Experience gathering, interpreting and utilizing requirements from business users to assist in successfully implementing tools and processes.
• Experience in successfully developing and maintaining reports and reporting tools (dashboards) for business users, management and senior level executives.
• Strong skills in collecting, analyzing, managing and presenting information.
• Ability to work with limited direction at a professional level of responsibility, independently and within a team environment.
• Functional knowledge of Adobe Workfront, Power BI, and SharePoint preferred, with continuous learning to develop advanced expertise.
• Proven ability to influence and integrate the adoption of solutions and changes across the organization.
