Disability, Mental HealthAbout the roleProvide personalised coaching and mentoring to a team of Disability Support Workers, focusing on skill development and best practices, while overseeing the operations of Supported Independent Living (SIL) homes within the Mudgee area.
The role involves an on-call component as well as occasional travel and shift work.The successful candidate will have leadership experience and an understanding of the disability sector.Key ResponsibilitiesAbility to work autonomously manage budgets, compliance, reporting and staff ratios of servicesLead and support a team of 30 Disability Support WorkersEnsure staff are skilled and knowledgeable in the delivery of disability services and ensuring active support of clientsFacilitate and manage a partnership approach with families and supportersCollaborate with key stakeholders, ensuring national consistency in delivering a positive serviceManage, monitor, and report on incidents and complaintsMaintaining clear role distinctions while offering support and mentorship to a teamAdvocate for clients in relation to Human Rights with a sound understanding of Restrictive PracticesSkills & ExperiencePrevious leadership experience within the delivery of services to people with a disabilityExperience in supporting clients with complex care needs and high behavioursDiploma in relevant Social & Community Services or relevant experienceCurrent unrestricted Australian Drivers Licence and access to a reliable vehicleEstablished influencing and negotiation skillsAbility to think creatively and use initiative whilst utilising leadership capability to make an impact in the sectorSuccessful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).To be considered for and appointed to a position at Life Without Barriers, you must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with a minimum of two (2) doses or hold a valid medical exemption certificate, in accordance with Life Without Barriers Employee COVID-19 Vaccination Policy.
