National Security & Resilience | Counter Foreign Interference Coord | CFI Partnerships

The Counter Foreign Interference Coordination Centre (CFICC) supports the National Counter Foreign Interference Coordinator to strengthen and coordinate Australia's whole of Government response to foreign interference. CFICC works across government, the private sector and the wider community to raise awareness of and strengthen resilience in our most at-risk sectors.

The CFI National Partnerships Branch is responsible for stakeholder engagement on the complex and evolving threat of foreign interference, with international partners and across at-risk sectors in all states and territories.

CFI National Partnerships Branch is seeking to fill four (4) immediate vacancies across three (3) Sections.

• CFI International Partnerships Section:
  The Assistant Director in this section assists with the coordination and delivery of the Australian Government's CFI policy engagements with international partners, including:
  

• Identifying international best practice and engaging with global partners to inform domestic policy efforts
• Sharing Australia's experience on countering foreign interference with international stakeholders
• Enabling information sharing, collaboration, and preparedness testing on measures to counter foreign interference with international partners and multilateral fora.

This process is being used to fill one immediate Assistant Director position in this section, operating in a small team environment.

• CFI Coordination and Reporting Section:
  The Assistant Director in this section is responsible for working across CFICC lines of effort to enable collaboration and facilitate information exchange across all sectors, maximising opportunities to achieve CFICC outcomes. The section supports internal, external and international stakeholder engagement by working closely with subject matter experts to develop communications products and briefing content for at-risk sectors. The section delivers an analytical function to pull together trends drawing on international and domestic policy insights and partnership engagement reporting.

This process is being used to fill one immediate Assistant Director position in this section, operating in a small team environment.

• CFI Partnerships Section (State and Territory Outreach):
  Assistant Directors in this section are located in each state and territory. They are responsible for stakeholder engagements on the complex and evolving threat of foreign interference, including:
  

• Engaging with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders
• Providing advice and support on foreign interference resilience building measures.

This process is being used to fill three immediate vacancies (one Assistant Director position in Victoria and two Assistant Director positions in New South Wales).

Duties and responsibilities

• Build and maintain current understanding of the strategic, geo-political, security and operational environments relevant to the foreign interference landscape
• Contribute to the continuous improvements of Australia's national response to foreign interference
• Develop and strengthen collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Develop and implement projects to meet current and future CFICC priorities
• Identify specialist engagement strategies for outreach to sectors of Australian society at risk of foreign interference
• Prepare briefs, cabinet submissions and ministerial briefing materials as required
• Represent CFICC at meetings, interdepartmental committees, conferences, and seminars
• Support policy initiatives, and manage their implementation and evaluation
• Display high-level problem-solving skills when influencing and negotiating with external stakeholders
• Use good judgement in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, prioritise responsibilities, maintain flexibility and be responsive to organisational change.

• To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen
• Applicants must state their existing security clearance level, if any, and if successful be willing to obtain and maintain a minimum of NV1-level security clearance
• Applicants will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC)
• Experience or qualifications in international relations or national security is desirable (not mandatory).
