Elementary School Islamic Education TeacherPosition Overview:
The Islamic Education teacher is responsible for planning and implementing the educational teaching plan according to the school's requirements and in compliance with the KHDA's Islamic Education guidelines for schools.
They create an educational atmosphere where students are granted the opportunity to fulfill their potential of becoming knowledgeable regarding the Islamic faith, provide knowledge and instruction to students while also helping them develop their personalities and skills.
The ideal candidate will be passionate regarding the content, and skilled at introducing and implementing Islamic education in an engaging, pedagogically sound manner.Instructional Responsibilities:
Promote a positive Islamic ethos and proper student behavior according to guidelines provided by the ASD Curriculum framework under the overall guidance of the MOE.Encourage and inspire the students to love the Quran and to learn more about Islamic education and Sunnah.Organize class decorations and layout to cultivate and promote love for Islam and Islamic values within students.Organize the Prayer (Salat) for the students in the school facility.Provide timely and meaningful feedback to students regarding their learning.Maintain proficiency in school and subject related technologies as appropriate to enhance and deliver instruction.Provide a flexible classroom environment that is conducive to learning and supports a student-centered learning environment.Effectively apply the most up-to-date, research-based strategies to address the needs of diverse learners in a culture of transition and mobility.Ensure that all students experience appropriate levels of challenge at all times.Use the student assessment process to improve learning and teaching.Maintain accurate up-to-date records of student progress and attendance.Engage parents and students in the learning process through frequent, meaningful and timely communication about student progress.Contribute to department/team planning, budgeting and other operational activities as required.Skillfully and positively contribute to the curriculum development and monitoring processes.Think systematically, reflect on, and learn from practice and be willing to collaborate with others to learn as a professional.Engage with students in meaningful activities beyond the classroom which extend learning experiences and meet the needs of students.Supervise students as required by the immediate supervisor.Actively support student's social emotional learning and well-being personally and by contributing and participating in appropriate activities and programs as required.Schoolwide Responsibilities:
Engage with the administration in a committed effort to continue to grow as an educator.Openly support and abide by all school policies and procedures.Model ASD Values in interactions with the school community.Take on other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent from a recognized and accredited university.A valid teaching certificate/license in Islamic Education.A minimum of two years, current, full-time related teaching experience with demonstrated expertise in subject matter.Must have excellent command of both English and Arabic.Prior experience in teaching in a bilingual English/Arabic classroom setting.Prior experience teaching students at the primary and secondary (Elementary and Middle School) levels.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience teaching in an international and/or overseas school setting.Prior experience in teaching with the CS Social Studies Framework for teaching through an inquiry framework.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Experience with standards based grading.Participation in current and relevant professional growth activities.Demonstrate focused instruction and assessment of student learning.Be open-minded, eager and willing to collaborate in a team environment in order to plan and prepare for effective instruction within the classroom.Demonstrate commitment to personal continuous professional growth and development.Develop and maintain effective working relationships.Represent ASD with students, parents, colleagues, and broader school community in a professional manner.Terms of Employment:
General working hours are from 7:
45 am - 3:
45 pm, Monday through Thursday and 7:
45 am - 12:
45 pm (on site) & 2:
30 pm - 3:
45 pm (remote/flexible) on Fridays.
In some cases, flexibility with work hours is requested to meet the needs of the role.ASD employees are responsible for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.
