Position Summary:
The Curriculum Director will provide skilled and effective leadership and oversight of strategic initiatives related to the development and communication of a research-based student learning program.
In partnership with members of the Teaching and Learning Center, including the school's other Curriculum Director and the Associate Superintendent for Teaching & Learning, they will ensure that the school-wide curriculum is developed, maintained, and revised in support of the school's mission and Framework for the Future.
The Curriculum Directors also work in close partnership with the divisional leadership teams, including the administration and teaching and learning coordinators.The Curriculum Director will serve as a member of the Learning Coordination Team in stewardship of strategic student learning goals.
The Curriculum Director will contribute to the oversight of the Office of Learning, which supports all curriculum programs, coordinates the local government school inspection processes, school-wide student standardized testing, ASD hosted conferences, and supports other school programs.
They will report to the Associate Superintendent for Teaching & Learning and will work with them to support the data collection, analysis, and communication of the school's strategic plan and accreditation processes.Primary Responsibilities:
Providing oversight and leadership for student learning goals in the Middle and High Schools, related to the school's Framework for the Future.Coordinate data collection and communication related to inspections conducted by the local government regulatory bodies.Coordinate the school's accreditation process.Assist in developing new curriculum to ensure both articulation and provisions for accountability.Oversee the administration of the school-wide standardized testing program including interpreting results and establishing information procedures for parents, faculty, and board members.Work with the testing coordinators and data specialist in the development and maintenance of reliable systems to analyze, collect, store, organize, and display assessment data.Collaborate with the MS and HS Teaching and Learning Coordinators (TaLCs) in the area of assessment, including direct analysis and interpretation of results, supporting faculty and administration in calibration of student learning evidence, and guide informed decision-making that impacts the quality of the student learning experience at ASD.Assist the Associate Superintendent for Teaching & Learning (ASTL) in the design and facilitation of school-wide professional development days.Assist in administering a school-wide professional development program that is research based, relevant, and focused on professional practice that impacts student learning.Collaborate to lead curriculum renewal cycles.Coordinate the new course/course change proposal process.Collaborate with the ASTL and TaLCs to coordinate on-site training opportunities for teachers.Supervise the testing coordinators.Assist with new faculty ASD orientation sessions.Take on other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.Required Qualifications:
Master's Degree in education or related field.Minimum of 5 years of secondary school classroom teaching experience.Experience with the AP program.Prior successful leadership experience.Proven skills in leadership, group facilitation, organization, writing, listening, and communications.Solid understanding of and experience with educational assessment and metrics, standards-based learning systems, and familiarity with major national and international K-12 assessments and curriculum (MAP, Common Core, AP).Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Prior experience in analytics.Student-centered decision-maker.Understand and appreciate the importance of diversity.Excellent listening, verbal, and communication skills.Capable of making and communicating decisions.Develop and sustain trust amongst all constituents.Terms of Employment:
This position is classified as an Administrator position.
The initial contract is a two-year contract, followed by annual renewals.
General working hours are from 7:
45 am - 3:
45 pm, Monday through Thursday and 7:
45 am - 12:
45 pm (on site) & 2:
30 pm - 3:
45 pm (remote/flexible) on Fridays.
In some cases, flexibility with work hours is requested to meet the needs of the role.ASD employees are responsible for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.
