Registered Nurse - Paediatric ER

Responsibilities:

• Perform his / her duties as per NMC guiding principles and model of care, DHA regulation and other regulatory authorities, accreditation body.
• Provides care in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner that is sensitive to the adult or elderly patient's and family's diversity, preserving their autonomy, dignity, and rights.
• Provide culturally appropriate patient focused nursing care.
• Applies the international patient safety goals throughout the patient journey and care process.
• Respects patient and applies patient family rights throughout the patient care, with empathy, emotional stability.
• Educates and informs patient on the care process and other relevant information within her scope of practice.
• Assessment, implementation and coordination of complex care and interventions.
• Supporting a compassionate and therapeutic environment for critically ill patients.
• Providing comfort and preventing suffering.
• Collaborating with patients, their families, their healthcare providers, and healthcare professionals.
• Acting as patient advocates.
• Arranging and overseeing continuous monitoring and nursing vigilance.
• Consults and coordinates with health care team members to develop a plan of care that is individualized for the adult and elderly patients reflecting collaboration with other members of the healthcare team.
• Demonstrates skills to triage the patients as per their condition and provides timely care in response to the needs of the patients.
• Carry out nursing assessment, state nursing diagnosis, and provide critical nursing care.
• Demonstrate competency in providing emergency nursing care and procedures for patients of all ages in clinical emergency situations.
• Sets up equipment for assisting physicians with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
• Monitors continuously vital signs and other parameters of the patients who are under observation.
• Performs a wide range of nursing procedures with keen attention to patient safety and comfort, including those requiring strict aseptic technique.
• Administers intravenous fluids, medications including high alert medications and narcotic drugs accurately and safely as prescribed.
• Ensure correct and precise nursing documentation about patient care.
• Demonstrate efficiency in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and participates as a member of the Code Blue team in the hospital.
• Demonstrates skills in care of patients with seizure, Myocardial Infarction, and poly trauma.
• Assist the Doctors for ICD, airway management, defibrillator, cardioversion, thrombolisation and other procedures as per the hospital policies.
• Prepare the patient for emergency surgery.
• Demonstrates competence in providing care utilizing biomedical equipment such as cardiac monitors and ventilators.
• Execute basic bedside nursing care and maintain hygienic protocols of the unit.
• Performs admission, discharge, and transfer procedures for the patient.
• Provides education and support to patient families.
• Assists with transfer of patients within the health care facility and to other health facilities outside.
• Maintain medical records as per hospital policy and procedures.
• Facilitate information exchange of patient related conditions and treatments at the end of shifts.
• Escorts patients in ambulance when required along with the team.
• Demonstrates critical care, monitors/assesses/provides therapeutic intervention as required during transportation.
• Collection and dispatch of specimens when ordered.
• Ensure the highest achievable level of care is delivered through identifying, advocating, and caring for all impacted populations in all phases of various disaster events.
• Carry out routine checks of working equipment in each shift.
• Participates in maintaining the inventory of the unit.
• Participates in scheduled continuing nursing education and staff development programs such as Quality improvement projects and Key Performance Indicators.
• Maintains confidentiality of patient's medical information.
• Demonstrates adherence to infection control policies.
• Maintains and adheres to hospital policies and JCI accreditation protocol.
• Demonstrate awareness of fire/equipment hazards and the necessary precautions to be activated as per hospital policy.
• Remain critical to the entire health care operation and pandemic response-processing, assessing, and triaging patients quickly and efficiently.

Pediatric:

Providing critical and preventive care to infants, children, and adolescents.

• Pediatric nurse to be responsible for the medical and health care of children from birth to late teens.
• The pediatric nurse will discuss a child's symptoms and medical history, provide initial care, administer prescribed medication, and monitor the patient's progress.
• Provide support to families and work with them to address their concerns, fears, problems, and options.
• They are able to talk to children and ask questions about their health, especially when children are scared and cannot clearly communicate their problems.
• Able to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care of children.
• Plan the individualized care based on the identified needs and consider the growth and development of children.
• Demonstrates competence in using pediatric pain assessment, growth and development assessment, pediatric drug, fluid calculation, and use medical equipment and devices as per the age and weight of the child.
• Understands the immunization schedule, collects appropriate immunization history, assists, supports, and administers immunization as per the approved and accepted guidelines of the hospital.
• Provides child safety and measures to prevent accidents for hospitalized children.

Qualifications:

• Master's in nursing/Bachelor of Science in Nursing/Diploma in Nursing.
• Current licensed in country of origin and with DHA license to practice in Dubai UAE.
• Minimum 2 years nursing experience or undergone training in relevant clinical area.
• Arabic language is desirable, but not essential.
